Let's face it, determining what Soccer Gear to buy can be difficult at times, and even though brands like ASICS do a great job of getting their product to the market, even they can make things a little confusing. I've posted about both of these Soccer Shoes before, but a side-by-side comparison is the best way to see what their names tell us about the difference in these two ASICS Soccer Cleat models. In fact, take a look at the ASICS Men's Lethal Testimonial ST Soccer Shoe and the ASICS Men's Lethal Testimonial IT Soccer Shoe below. At a quick glance do you see the difference?
When viewing these Men's Soccer Cleats online where you are jumping between windows or even competing sites, it is harder to tell what the differences are. The fact that their names only have ONE changed letter doesn't help your average shopper much. Obviously now you see the cleats are very different when viewed side by side, but what does that mean? And which shoe option should you buy?
The top image is the Lethal Testimonial ST, which stands for Screw Type. Ah, now that helps doesn't it. This is a 6-cleat configuration sole design with detachable studs that you screw in. Great for soft turf and really digging in on sharp changes in direction.
The bottom image is the Lethal Testimonial IT, which stands for Innovative Tiger Sole. Darn, we're back to confusing aren't we? It helps to know that this is a newly designed Fixed cleat plate using a new Lightweight Solyte Polymer Outsole. The design incorporates more studs of similar size (rather than the fewer and larger cleats on the ST) resulting in more contact area, more grip and faster release when changing direction. You may not get the same level of traction as the ST but these are a fantastic option for harder outdoor soccer surfaces where deeper cleats aren't needed, (but not for artificial turf).
Once you compare these to your style of play you can make a better decision on which type of soccer boot is right for you.
